so far but yet so close
Thursday, January 23

Back at the end of last year, whenever people asked me how I felt about going off to London soon, I'd be all, "Well, it's still 9 or 10 months away, which is a really long time, so I don't really feel anything yet." Which was the truth.

But 1 month later and here we are in LATE January (already?!?); seriously, how and when did the month just fly past like that!!! All at once, my departure is starting to feel frighteningly close. And I'm terrified. Of leaving all my beloved family and friends behind, of starting from scratch in a new environment, of stepping into the vast unknown - without even the remotest semblance of anything familiar.

But when you keep worrying about the future and living in the past, you tend to miss the beautiful moments that are happening in the present, right before your eyes. And just as how the manna God provided for the Israelites was perfectly sufficient for each day (and rotting if they were hoarded for the next day), I'm certain that Daddy God has done the same for me. So, I shall enjoy the portion that has been provided for me each day, knowing that He shall provide His perfectly sufficient supply for every other day, with no worries for the future.

I'm now treasuring and relishing every single moment I get to spend with the wonderful people here. Not that I didn't before, but now more so than ever. I think I've mentioned more than a few times to everyone that I'm having such a blast, enjoying myself in pretty much every area and growing in Christ at the same time (: It somehow makes a world of difference, just approaching all the meetups and activities with an attitude of "I'm so glad I get to spend time with them," instead of, "sighpie I'm not going to be able to meet up with them in a few months time...". An attitude of thanksgiving and gratitude for what He has provided, instead of that of despair. And that just allows me to really sit back and appreciate every moment.

When September finally rolls by, I'm pretty certain that my heart will explode and force tears out of my tear ducts with how much I'll miss everyone. But the more I miss everyone, the more I'll know my time with them was precious, blessed and well-spent. And that shall make all the heartache worth it (:

For all my beloved mathlabbers, pugs, desk partners, #ilovemycellies, POSBs, and Sparkies (:

AMEN;
